Association of physical activity and feeding preferences of children with their nutritional status: A school based crosssectional study

Background: People who are obese have a higher risk of acquiring many severe diseases. Feeding preferences and physical activities deemed to play an important role in obesity children. Objectives: This study aimed find out the prevalence over nutrition among primary level children selected private schools Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC). It also assessed impact activity feeding on their nutritional status. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional was done 488 parents, six KMC between May August 2016. Children with written permission were included study, while absentees or hostel dwellers excluded. Multistage cluster sampling used for sampling. Ethical clearance obtained from Institutional Review Committee Medical College Public Limited informed consent taken all participants. The questionnaire contained questions regarding socio-demographic details, modified Child’s Questionnaire Child Physical Activity Questionnaire. Data entered analysed using SPSS v.20. Results: overweight 4.5% (22) 2.5% (12). Similarly, 135 (27.7%) had adequate per day. Those 1.5 times more likely be overweight. Parent’s perception child’s weight concern about child being both predictors actual weight. Conclusion: Nutritional status affected by so they need educated importance healthy eating activities.
